I found this book to be enormously helpful. Bryan Cutshall successfully integrates the Exodus story with modern life. He uses the path of Moses and the Israelites out of Egypt, through the wilderness, and into the Promised Land as a metaphor for life today.
His writing is smooth and clear, yet also sophisticated and spiritually challenging. I related to many of the real-life examples he used amply throughout the text.
Cutshall makes the point, through this study of the Exodus story, that each one of us must get out of own personal Egypt – however we willfully separate from God. As he describes the process of struggle in the wilderness, entering Canaan, and then conquering the obstacles in the promised land, God showed me specific areas where I needed Holy Spirit deep cleaning. As no stranger to Bible study, and this story in particular, I can appreciate the fresh insights I received from this book – a rare find in my humble opinion.
I think any Christian – any person really – who is seeking God’s best for his or her life would benefit from reading this book. It’s also set up to be used for group discussion with questions and exercises at the end of each chapter that could spark some interesting sessions.
Well done!
